State of Louisiana guide good user's manual
The Advocate Editorial
Louisiana government might be easier to operate if it came with a user's manual. That's the premise behind a publication that's just been revised for use by the state's residents.
The Public Affairs Research Council, a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that researches state issues, has just released a free, updated online version of its guide to Louisiana government titled "Your Louisiana Government: An Owner's Manual." The 138-page manual, first published in 1998 and now updated, originally was developed as a social studies textbook. But it's also a handy reference on Louisiana government for longtime adult residents and newcomers to the state.
Readers can download an online version of the guide, by chapter or in its entirety, by logging on to http://www.la-par.org and following subject headings.
We commend PAR for producing the guide and hope Louisianians take advantage of its information.
